Councillors from across County Tipperary are to meet with Uisce Eireann this morning to discuss issues of concern with water and wastewater services in the county.

The meeting will be an in person meeting with officials from Uisce Eireann and will take place in the council office in Nenagh. Councillors can attend in person or via zoom. In an effort to make the meeting more efficient it has been agreed that each of the five Municipal District councillors will  meet with the Uisce Eireann officials in turn. The agenda has allocated 15 minutes per district however councillors say this will be extended given the volume of issues to be raised. Councillors were asked to email in their questions by Sept 13th so that answers might be available at today’s meeting.

Several Boil water notices are in effect at present and it is understood that the Taking in Charge of Glen Court Estate in Emly is paused due to issues with water services at the estate. The residents submitted their Taking in Charge Application in 2013. The estate also has over 20 vacant houses that have never been lived in since they were built over 15 years ago. Local Councillors Mary Hanna Hourigan and Anne Marie Ryan have repeatedly sought Council action to bring the vacant houses into use and for the Council to complete the Taking in Charge process which is complicated by the presence of the vacant houses and their connections to the water services.
