Deadline Extended For Submissions On New Biodiversity Plan For Co. Tipp

Tipperary County Council is  extending the deadline for submissions on a new Biodiversity Action Plan for County Tipperary.

The plan is being devised in partnership with the Heritage Council and will set out Tipperary County Council’s statement of intent in relation to biodiversity of the County. 

The Council has published an issues paper on the council website to help people interested in making submissions.

Biodiversity is defined as all living things on earth from the smallest microorganism to insects to mammals and habitats and ecosystems. 

The Dáil passed a motion in 2019 declaring a Biodiversity crisis in Ireland.

The threats include issues such as Climate Change, Habitat Loss, Pollution, Invasive species and the Modification of Rivers.

Submissions or observations with respect to the discussion Papers or content of the Biodiversity Action Plan may be made no later than 4pm on  Thursday the 26th of September 2024.

All submissions should include the person’s contact details and where relevant, details of any organisation or community group they represent.
