The tenth annual Cahir Tradfest will begin this evening with the launch event and a Comhaltas showcase taking place at the Cahir Castle Hall beginning at 7pm.
The event will continue over the weekend with the highlight being a concert in St Mary’s Cathedral on Saturday night at 7pm featuring the Blackwater Céilí band – former All Ireland Champions from county Tyrone. Members of the band will also deliver a series of workshops and tutorials in Bunscoil na Cathrach National School on Saturday morning.
Street sessions are also planned with musicians performing at the Cahir Castle Car park on Saturday between 3 and 4.30pm. Sunday sees a hugely appealing event with a Trad Trail offered along the Inch Field and walk to the Swiss Cottage from 2.30pm.
Sunday also features a Recital in Cahir House Hotel at 5pm.
Traditional Music sessions over the weekend will also take place in the Cahir House Hotel, the Shamrock Lounge, the Galtee Inn and the Hill Inn.
The event is organised by Cahir Comhaltas and full details can be found on their social media at this link here.
