Tipperary Council council has granted planning permission for a change of use in respect of the Ground Floor of Irish House located at 63-64 Main Street Tipperary town.

The building has been renovated in recent years and now accommodates six apartments overhead.

The latest planning approval grants permission for the ground floor to be used as office space instead of the previous use for retail operations.

Abercorn Developments is now proceeding with renovating the ground floor for office use.

The permission granted also allows for new signage. It is understood that most of the ground floor space will be occupied by a business in the financial services sector.

The six apartments were allocated to people on the social housing list and are managed by Focus Ireland.

The three storey listed building, originally constructed in 1890, has a long history as a Department store, use as a School and a retail unit followed by a long period of vacancy until Abercorn Developments acquired the property.
