The parish priest of Galbally and Aherlow has launched an appeal to raise €80,000 to cover the cost of heating repairs for the church in Galbally. Fr Jack O’Neill says the works have now commenced and that he has no doubt that the local community and those with links to Galbally will help with the fundraising.  Envelopes have been distributed around the parish which has a catchment of over 3,000 people.

The heating pipes are under the church floor and have become corroded with rust due to leaks.  All radiators and pipes need to be replaced. The work will take 4 to 5 weeks to complete and also includes a new gas boiler instead of the current oil boiler. The church received 4 tenders for the project with New Inn Plumbing and Heating getting the contract.

Fr O’Neill says the families will see it as an investment for the next generation of people in the parish.  Anyone wishing to make a donation is asked to make cheques should be made payable to Galbally Heating Fund.
