South East Mountain Rescue Organisation Complete Two Rescue Missions

The South East Mountain Rescue Organisation (SEMRA) completed two rescue missions yesterday.   A walker with  an ankle injury needed assistance shortly after 4pm. Rescue helicopter 117 was able to divert from a training mission and the casualty was winched into the helicopter and taken to Waterford airport for transfer by Ambulance to Waterford University Hospital. The incident occurred just above Coumshingaun Lough.

The second incident occurred  just after 11.30pm when an alert was received from the National Ambulance Service for two casualties who suffered injuries after falling from an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) on the Clogheen loop. SEMRA members were first on scene assessing the casualties who were later transferred by ambulance to Clonmel Hospital. Both persons were treated for spinal injury and head injuries as a matter of course. One person is understood to have suffered head and arm injuries while the second casualty suffered scrape wounds to their back. Members of An Garda Siochana, two Ambulances and Tipperary Fire and Rescue service also responded to the incident.
