Tipperary town is the final stop today for a cycle that began in Bristol on August 11th with a stop in Cashel planned for 1.30pm.  The Christine Daly Memorial Cycle is being led by her brother Martin Daly who lives in Tipperary town. Christine died in 2023 after suffering a stroke. After working for many years in the UK as a nurse she retired home to Miltown Malbay in county Clare. The group is undertaking the cycle from Bristol to Miltown Malbay to raise awareness of stroke and the need to manage blood pressure. To support this effort Shane Kelly Pharmacy, Main Street, Tipperary town is offering free blood pressure tests all day today.

The group of cyclists expect to arrive at Bowe’s in Cashel at approximately 1.30pm and will then travel to Tipperary Town – stopping briefly at St Michael’s graveyard to regroup before the group will come into Tipperary town for a stop at Tony Lowry’s pub at approximately 3pm. Approximately 10  – 20 cyclists will be in the group when it arrives in Tipperary town.

In addition, the cyclists are raising funds for two causes – the Rehabilitation Unit in Cashel and the Clare Cancer Support organisation.

Martin’s mother Rita is currently recovering from a stroke earlier this year but joined a spinathon in St Anthony’s nursing home in  Pallasgreen earlier this week covering  a total of 18km to support the effort. To date over €15,000 has been donated to the Go Fund Me Page Christine Daly Memorial Cycle  Bristol to Miltown Malbay available at this link here.
