Government Scheme To Support Businesses With Energy Cost To Be Extended

403
A Government scheme to support businesses with their energy costs is to be extended until the end of July.  The scheme which allows businesses to claim up to half of the increase in their gas and electricity bills in certain circumstances was originally due to expire at the end of the month. The Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme (TBESS) offers an improved level of benefit and is easier to access since changes were made in the Budget. The aim is to help businesses as they deal with higher input costs.
The Scheme is operated by the Revenue Service and full details of the application process are available on it’s website at revenue.ie.   Businesses qualify if their energy costs have increased by 30% – this had been a 50% theshold and claims can be made for previous months. Eligible businesses are encouraged to continue making claims via the eRepayments system on ROS or Revenue Online Service.
Finance Minister Michael McGrath also called on energy companies to pass on savings to consumers as wholesale energy prices decrease.
