Water Supply Served By Coalbrook Public Water Supply Scheme Disrupted Due To Large Leak

291
Water supply to people served by the Coalbrook Public Water Supply Scheme has been disrupted due to a large leak on the network which has “significantly reduced the water level in the storage reservoir”. Uisce Eireann says it may be Sunday before supply returns to all customers. A call has been made for customers to conserve water as it may help others on the network.
Uisce Éireann is now working with Tipperary County Council to restore water as quickly as possible but warns of temporary, intermittent low pressure and/or water outages particularly at higher elevations of the network.
Alternative water supplies have been arranged and will be located at Earlshill and Kilbraugh. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
The precise location of the leak has yet to be identified. It typically takes two to three hours following repairs for full supply to restore to all customers affected by a water supply outage as reservoir storage levels replenish.
In addition to the large leak Uisce Eireann says there are water shortages due to reduced water availability from existing sources. Tankering to the reservoir has commenced in order to return and maintain a supply to all customers.
Uisce Éireann is undertaking works on the sources to increase the capacity in the longer term.
Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications  for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open twenty four hours every day and can be contacted on 1800 278 278.  Updates will also be shared on Twitter at  @IWCare and on the Uisce Eireann website at water.ie
