Tipperary TD Michael Lowry and Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council Roger Kennedy both say that Transport Minister Eamon Ryan is giving assurances about the provision of adequate funding for the N24 road project.
The funding is in respect of design and preparation of the planning application which is due to be submitted next year.
The planning application will also include details of the land take required to build the road and the related compulsory purchase orders for homes or land that will be purchased before construction begins.
Tipperary county council had revealed that it requested €3.25M for this stage of the project in 2023 but was only allocated €1M. The project is in respect of an upgrade of the N24 linking Cahir towards Oola and providing By-Passes for Tipperary town and villages such as Bansha and Monard.
It is unclear if the entire road will be approved for construction funding or just the section around Tipperary town which is a priority project for the Government to support Town Centre Renewal.
The style of road is also yet to be determined with options including a Motorway, a Dual Carriageway or a Single Roadway to be considered.
