441

Uisce Eireann has issued an update to Tipp Mid West Radio in respect of the Boil Water Notice on the Glengar Public Supply.

Work to resolve the issue in the short term is underway and current sampling of water on the Scheme is returning satisfactory results. The final decision to lift the notice must be in consultation with the HSE.

In the meantime, customers supplied by the Glengar Public Water Supply are reminded to continue to Boil their water.

The notice was issued on March 3rd after cryptosporidium was found in the water.  The notices impact approximately 470 people.

Uisce Eireann is also confirming that the Glengar Water Supply Scheme has been approved for rationalisation, which will decommission the  existing source and water treatment plant and connect the scheme to Ironmills Water Supply Scheme.

Construction is due to commence on this project later in the year.
