New Garda Superintendent For Clonmel District Appointed

A new Garda Superintendent for the Clonmel District has been appointed.

Supt Kieran Ruane will oversee the district that extends from Clonmel to Mullinahone, Fethard and Carrick on Suir.

Supt. Ruane has been working in the Cahir District since January – prior to that he worked as Superintendent in Limerick Garda Division with responsibly for  Performance Assurance including Criminal Justice and preparation and maintenance of Court Files.

Superintendent Ruane is a very experienced Garda and has obtained a number of educational qualifications over his career including an MA in Serious Crime Investigation, and certificates in Governance, Law and Project Management.

He served as a Garda in Dublin from 1990, joining the Air support unit in 1997 and moving to the Garda College as an instructor in 2002  for the Postgraduate Diploma in Serious Crime Investigation.

He served over a year in Nicosia with the UN Civil Affairs team between 2008  and 2009.

He served as a Detective Inspector in Ennis before returning to Garda HQ in Dublin for work on the modernisation of An Garda Siochana.

He began work in Limerick in April 2022 Leading out the establishment of the new Performance Assurance Functional in the Limerick Division under the new Operating Model structure for An Garda Siochana.
