Increase Capacity of EV Charges In Tipp Town

311

Electric Vehicle Charging point capacity in Tipperary town has increased to now allow 8 EVs to be charged at any one time. Tipperary Credit Union has recently installed an EV charge point outside it’s premises on Emmet Street that can facilitate two vehicles at any one time.

The two new charge points add to charge points available in the Abbey Street Car park operated by Tipperary County Council, the Tesco car park and two in the Lidl car park. The availability of adequate infrastructure is considered key to encouraging drivers to switch to electric vehicles. Ireland’s Climate Action Plan commits to increasing the fleet of EVs and low emitting vehicles to 945,000 in order to meet the required level of emissions reduction by 2030. Transport accounts for approximately 20% of Ireland’s greenhouse gas emissions.
