National Broadband Ireland is to host an information stand at Tipperary Town shopping centre this week (23rd, 24th and 25th March) to provide information to the public on whether they are one of the 3,000 premises in the town ready to connect and outline the benefits of superfast fibre broadband.

Tipperary residents are being encouraged to visit the NBI website nbi.ie to check the level of service in their area or to check estimated connection dates.

Almost 6,000 premises in Tipperary can avail of National Broadband Ireland high-speed fibre connection at present as work to roll out the service continues.

NBI says homes, businesses and farms in townlands and villages near Tipperary town and Clonmel such as Ballyclerahan, Ballykisteen and Kilmucklin are ready to connect to fibre broadband today.

NBI is responsible for the overall network but does not sell fibre broadband directly to end users.

30,000 premises in County Tipperary are included in the State’s Intervention Area which is intended to give these areas broadband service as the areas are not served by commercial operators.

County Tipperary will receive €118m of Government investment under the National Broadband Plan. NBI will be responsible for the management of the new national broadband network for at least the next 25 years.
