Athassel Abbey in Golden is one of 51 historical sites involved in reports of vandalism last year. The report states that a stone effigy on a wall was knocked on the ground in an incident last July.
The Office of Public Works says that the increasing reports of vandalism are a “real, pressing and substantial problem”, as each repair can cost hundreds of euro.
Any reports of vandalism should be reported to local Gardaí.
