Road safety in the Dundrum area was discussed at the Tipperary Cahir Cashel MD meeting yesterday.

Councillors have a number of concerns due to the increased number of pedestrians in the area as a number of refugees from Ukraine are being accommodated locally.

Council officials are to examine the possibility of providing a designated bus stop on both sides of the road to ensure that passengers, the bus operator and other road users are not put at risk.

The bus stops in the area near Convent cross 4 times a day.

In addition, Councillors asked if the council could move an embankment as some pedestrians use it to step off the road –

Cllr Roger Kennedy and Cllr Mary Hanna Hourigan both say there have been a number of close calls on the roadway.

The area has no lighting and all pedestrians walking in the area are urged to use hi vis jackets.
