Tipperary Roads Policing Unit patrolling in Roscrea yesterday detained a driver after the vehicle was seen trying to evade Gardaí. The vehicle was stopped and seized as it was established that the driver did not have insurance and there was no NCT or motor tax in place. The driver was arrested on suspicion of drug driving after failing a drug wipe test.

The test revealed a positive result for cannabis. Garda can now use the roadside drug test to check for drug driving – a driver detained on Sunday is to face court proceedings after testing positive for cocaine.
