IFA Tipperary Members Invited To Farming And Climate Issues Conference

400

IFA members  in Tipperary are being invited to a conference to discuss Farming and Climate issues.  The major event is planned for Tuesday January 10th at Thomond Park in Limerick and is a daytime event to run between 11am and 4pm.  Farmers interested in attending should email [email protected]  or contact their local branch. The conference will hear presentations from Teagasc, An Bord Bia, Academics in Food Enterprise and Climatology, and Economist Ciaran Fitzgerald.

The Agriculture sector has been set a target of reducing it’s emissions by  25% under Ireland’s Climate action plan up to 2030.  Farmers fear that this will result in government schemes to reduce herd numbers and result in a drop in farm incomes and cause damage to the rural economy.
