Cashel Gambling Support Service Welcomes States Measures To Regulate Gambling Sector

A Gambling Support Service in Cashel is welcoming the government’s measures to regulate the Gambling sector.

The measures include a total ban of gambling advertising on social media, prohibit gambling advertising on traditional media between 5.30am and 9pm and criminal sanctions for gambling companies who fail to protect children and vulnerable consumers.

Eddie Kendrick, a Gambling Support Worker at Spa Field Family Resource Centre believes these measures will make an impact in tackling problem gambling.

Mr Kendrick says the ban on social media advertising is particularly important as those trying to deal with problem gambling will not be constantly be pressure by seeing adverts when their online.
