Government Encourages Over 70s To Check Fuel Allowance Eligibility

The government is encouraging those over 70 years of age to check if they are eligible for the fuel allowance following changes to the threshold.

Minister of State Martin Heydon says from mid January a single person over 70 years old who’s income doesn’t go over 500 euro per week or a couple over 70 who’s income is under 1000 euro a week will be able to avail of the fuel allowance.

Minister Heydon says the current mean is around 300 per week which means many over 70s will be able to access this additional fund.
