Boil Before Notice Remains In Place For Horse & Jockey

Irish Water is reminding the public that the Boil before Use notice remains in place for customers on the Horse and Jockey public water supply.

The notice was put in place in September due to higher than acceptable levels of suspended particles in the water that impact the effectiveness of the water treatment process.

The supply comes from a borehole and Irish Water says water levels have been recovering and this has helped with the turbidity issue, however, the turbidity issues persists.

A capital investment project is approved to decommission the Horse & Jockey Source and treatment plant, and connect the scheme to the Thurles Regional Water Supply.

However, it will likely be towards the end of 2023 before these works will be completed.

Irish Water has therefore been developing interim solutions to enable the lifting of the Boil Water Notice and hopes to provide more details of these before the end of November.
