McGrath Praises Initiatives To Promote Tipperary Tourism

Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath has praised initiatives in County Tipperary to promote and develop the tourism sector.
The local TD was speaking on new legislation in respect of the  National Tourism Development Authority and funding it can distribute to the sector.
Deputy McGrath commended the work of initiatives such as Knockmealdown Active, Munster Vales and the St Declan’s Way Project and called for further funding for projects that improve the quality of life and economy of rural communities.
He also called for Fáilte Ireland to provide greater attention to this region and that less reliance would be made of volunteers to support the sector. 
Deputy McGrath praised the efforts of  Triona O’Mahoney, Munster Vales and Marie Phelan in Tipperary Tourism for their work alongside that of the Tipperary Food producers group for raising the profile of  Tipperary as a top destination for food tourism.
Deputy McGrath pledged his full engagement for tourism development and cited the Knockmealdowns, the Vee Valley, the Glen of Aherlow, Lough Derg the Swiss Cottage, The Rock of Cashel and what he called  “the best castles and heritage buildings”  as key assets in the development of tourism in Tipperary.
