Tipperary Town Task Force And Pembroke Alliance To Determine Viability Of Food Hub

502

The Tipperary Town Task Force has hired Pembroke Alliance to help determine the viability of establishing a food hub in Tipperary Town. The proposed facility would be a base for food related start ups. The idea was suggested as part of the Revitalisation strategy for the town.

To date the consultants have met with the Local Enterprise Office, Tipperary ETB, Jobs for Tipp, the South Tipp Development Company and will also engage with the Tipperary Food Producers Group, Teagasc and Bord Bia. The project may also involve collaboration with the Technological University of the Shannon in Limerick. The University has a Food Centre of Excellence and could assist with issues such as nutritional analysis and labelling of products.

A number of potential buildings in the town will also be assessed for suitability for the project. It is expected that the work on a Market Analysis will be completed by Pembroke Alliance in February 2023. Funding applications would then be necessary to advance the project through design and construction.
