Almost 900 PPS Numbers Issued To Ukrainian Refugees In Co. Tipp

The CSO reports that there were 54,771 arrivals from Ukraine in Ireland up to September 25th  2022, of which just over 1,000 arrived in the previous week. This is based on the issue of PPS numbers to individuals from Ukraine under the Temporary Protection Directive.

Across county Tipperary a total of 898 PPS numbers have been issued to refugees from Ukraine.  These are reported as follows – Roscrea Templemore 100, Thurles 92, Carrick on Suir 112, Clonmel 179, Cahir 63, Cashel Tipperary 161, Newport 17 and Nenagh 174. 

Women aged 20 and over account for 46% of arrivals to date, while individuals aged under nineteen (both male and female) make up for 35% of arrivals. Adult men make up the remaining 19%. The highest percentage of those arriving (35% or 19,121 individuals) were categorised as ‘One parent with children’ under the broad relationship classification headings used. 

67% of the arrivals that attended employment support events arranged by Intreo Public Employment Services say proficiency in the English language is a challenge in securing employment.  Of the 19,589 arrivals who attended an Intreo event, 14,209 had recorded previous occupations, with Professionals being the largest group at 32%.

5,959 of the arrivals from Ukraine are living in private accommodations, where 2,770 hosts are in receipt of Accommodation Recognition Payment for accommodating people from Ukraine.
