An investment of €1.3 million euros for Carrick on Suir Further Education and Training (FET) Centre has been confirmed by Minister for Higher and Further Education Simon Harris.

Carrick-on-Suir Further Education and Training Centre is a key project in the first phase of 13 projects to be advanced under the national Further Education and Training Strategic Infrastructure Upgrade Fund.

The project will upgrade existing FET facilities but also to expand the college to include new Apprentice workshops, and a new woodwork Room/Cutting Shed.

The new build will provide increased capacity for up to 300 learners, and develop significant provision options in Apprenticeship, Traineeship and skills-based training.

The project is to be managed by Tipperary ETB. Funding for this project will be provided through SOLAS to Tipperary Education and Training Board.

A design team will now be appointed with a view to development of a more detailed project brief in consultation with all relevant stakeholders.
