Tipperary County Council is advising that a section of the Blueway near Carrick on Suir will be closed from today.

The closure is related to a section between Arragan’s Boreen approximately 2.3 km outside Carrick-on-Suir and Fisherman’s Boreen approximately 1km outside Carrick-on-Suir.

The path will be closed for widening and re-surfacing works for 8 weeks.

The path will be open for use on weekends, opening on Friday evening and closing early Monday mornings.

Tipperary council apologises for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure.

The Suir Blueway opened in 2019 at a cost of just under €6 million.

The Suir Blueway runs for 53km in an east-west direction from Carrick-on-Suir to Cahir via Clonmel.

The route is made up of a walking/ cycling trail for 21km which runs from Carrick-on-Suir to Clonmel and a further 32km of waterway along the River Suir which can be canoed or kayaked.

It is the river-based element of the route that makes it a Blueway rather than Greenway.
