TUH Emergency Department Experiencing Overcrowding

323

Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel is asking that patients only present to the Emergency Department if absolutely necessary.

Management at the hospital say the Emergency Department is currently experiencing overcrowding. People are being advised to think about all their care and other possible treatment options – such as pharmacy or GP and keep the ED services for the patients who need them most.

There were 21 patients being cared for on trolleys in the Emergency Department yesterday and the number for today is 24.

Patients are being triaged on arrival leading to patients waiting on trolleys or chairs along the corridors leading to the hospital reception area.

Any person that is seriously injured or ill will be assessed at the ED in Clonmel and provided with the appropriate care.
