Tipperary TD Michael Lowry has contacted the Minister for Health in relation to the ongoing issues at Nenagh Hospital’s Local Injury Unit and sought assurances that the appropriate level of medical staff will be in attendance at the Unit to alleviate the need to close the vital local service.

Services at Nenagh Injury Until will not be available today due to staff shortages.

The unit cannot operate without a doctor and hospital Management has confirmed that the unit will be closed tomorrow Wednesday.

It is expected that Nenagh Injury Unit will function from Thursday onwards for it’s normal hours of 8am to 8pm.

People who require treatment for minor injuries tomorrow should attend the Injury Units at St John’s Hospital in Limerick, or the Minor Injuries unit in Cashel.

The service in Nenagh was also closed on Friday and Saturday and operated a reduced length of service yesterday due to staff shortages.
