The Taoiseach is praising a young Co. Tipperary student for her advocacy work on behalf of siblings.

Cara Darmody met with Micheal Martin for 80 minutes to highlight the lack of services for children with autism.

The Ardfinnan pupil knows firsthand the impact as she has two younger brothers Neil and John who have severe autism.

Ms Darmody raised over 38,000 euro for Scoil Chormaic Special School in Cashel and Ardfinnan National School to support services for these children.

She also sat the Junior Cycle Maths exam in June as part of the fundraiser.

The Fianna Fail leader says it’s a geat privilege to meet Cara with her parents today.

He thanks the local student for her powerful and passionate advocacy for children with autism and special needs.

Cara spoke on Ireland AM and says that the Taoiseach agreed with her that the lack of services was a national crisis.

The student says she will not be going away if action is not taken and the Taoiseach says he will be tackling the issues.
