Local Company Features At International Trade Show

A local company is one of seven Irish Exporters taking part in a 3 day trade show in Nuremberg Germany to promote Irish Organic food and drink products.

The Good Herdsmen is the largest organic meat processor in Ireland and the UK.

The company coordinates the supply, processing and marketing of around 200 certified organic farmers from it’s facility in Cahir – the company also produces organic meat from it’s farm near Thomastown.

The company is exhibiting on the Origin Green Ireland stand, taking place on the first day of a Government-led organic trade mission to Germany.

The aim is to build awareness among trader buyers about Ireland growing organic sector. Bord Bia, the state food marketing body, is to lead a series of meetings with leading German organic retailers and food manufacturers to further grow the market for Irish organic exports.

The BIOFACH trade show attracts buyers from over 130 countries, with over 50,000 visitors expected over the three days.

Currently, Ireland’s organically farmed area is approximately 2% of our total agricultural area.

Under the Programme for Government, the aim is to increase organic farmland to 7.5% by 2027. Bord Bia research shows that there is a cumulative organic market of €27.7 billion in 8 EU nations studied.
