The Minor Injuries Unit at the former Our Lady’s Hospital in Cashel will be functioning today as normal as a doctor has been secured.

As of this morning the service is expected to operate on Thursday and Friday as normal.

The service has been disrupted since last week due to the lack of a doctor for the service.

Cashel Based TD Martin Browne has called on the HSE to commit to ensuring the public knows which services are provided, at what times and that it be properly staffed.

The injuries unit also provides an X-Ray service in Cashel in collaboration with Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel.

Deputy Martin says a properly functioning Minor Injuries Unit would assist in dealing with overcrowding in Clonmel and Limerick Emergency Departments and give better care to local people.

The Cashel Minor Injuries Unit can be contacted on 062 70400 and normally operates Monday to Friday
