A cyclist in Thurles was left badly shaken following an incident with a truck  near Liberty Square on  6th July 2022 at approximately 2.50pm.

The man did not need medical attention although his bicycle was severely damaged.

Garda also attended the scene and say their enquiries are ongoing.

The incident occurred in the area shown in the photograph as both the cyclist and the vehicle were heading onto Slievenamon road.

Liberty Square, Thurles  is the point where  the N62 and the N75 meet and the area suffers from severe congestion with a large volume of HGVs passing through the town centre daily.

Plans to develop an inner relief road have not advanced since planning permission was granted in 2014 with the council yet to acquire the necessary land and there are no active plans for a Thurles Town by pass.
