The Deanery in Cashel has been sold for slightly more than one million euros.
The property was auctioned yesterday at the Cashel Palace Hotel and a local man Pat Harty made the final successful bid of €1,020,000.
The property, located in the town centre has a substantial house, walled gardens and comes with almost 10 acres of adjacent land.
The property had been listed with a guide price of €800,000 on behalf of the Church of Ireland.
Approximately 50 people attended the auction with bidding starting at €600,000 from the 6 interested bidders attending.
Cllr John Fitzgerald was the auctioneer for the sale in conjunction with Dougan Fitzgerald DNG- Liam O’Grady located in Tipperary town.
No future plans for the property have been revealed as of now but a condition of the sale is that the title “Deanery” cannot be used by the new owner.
The property is also known as Maryville. A new residence for the Cashel based Church of Ireland religious community will now be acquired with some of the proceeds from the sale of the Deanery.
