A Tipperary pupil is to recieve Mayoral reception in Clonmel this evening. (14th June)
Cara Darmody set up a fundraiser to fund therapies for children with special needs in Ardfinnan National School and Scoil Chormaic Special School in Cashel – over 26,000 euro has been raised.
The Ardfinann girl sat the Junior Cycle Maths exam last week as part of her fundraising drive.
Cara says she was exhausted after the exam but that it went brilliantly and she’s now on her education summer holidays.
The 11 year old says she went into the exam hall fighting so hard for those 300 children that need help and services right now.
Ms Darmody says she’ll use the reception as another chance to tell the politicians what is really going on.
In recent weeks Cara has spoken to local and national media, she’s met with Tánaiste Leo Varadkar, Minster for Special Education Josephina Madigan and other politicians to highlight the lack of services for children with special needs.
