Education Minister Visits Thurles Today

The Minister of Education is visiting Thurles today to discuss providing a Home Economics course for the town.

Fianna Fail’s Jackie Cahill says he’s working with Mary Immaculate management and Tipperary ETB to secure the course.

The Fianna Fail Deputy says it’s the third Minister to visit and that great progress is being made to date.

Earlier this morning the Minister visited MIC Campus in Thurles and met with senior college officials led by Head of School, Finn O’Murchu.

The Minister was given a presentation in respect of expansion plans for MIC Thurles and also the provision of education across county Tipperary led by Tipperary Education and Training Board. 

The ETB is responsible for the provision of second level, adult, community and apprentice training programs in the county and operates the Apprenticeship Training Centre at Archerstown Thurles.

The Minster is expected to visit Coláiste Mhuire in Thurles, the local ETB school later today.

Local Cllr Roger Kennedy, a member of Tipperary ETB accompanied the Minister during her visit.
