Five People Injured After Shooting in New York Subway Station

Five people are believed to have been shot at a subway station in New York City.

The incident occurred at around 8.30am local time (13.30 GMT) on Tuesday at the 36th Street Station in the Sunset Park area and fire personnel and police are currently at the scene.

13 people are confirmed to be injured by the fire department but they did not give any further information on these injuries.

Undetonated devices were also found at the scene.

It is currently suspected that the perpetrator fled the scene wearing a construction vest and a gas mask, according to sources. No motive for this incident has been identified as yet.

It is understood that trains are currently delayed in both directions to and from the 36th Street Station.
