Illegal Beer Seized at Dublin Port

Revenue Officers have confiscated over 25,400 litres of beer at Dublin Port following the search of a Romanian registered truck and trailer arriving in the port.

The vehicle had disembarked from a ferry from Holyhead, Wales.

The smuggles alcohol, branded ‘Perla’ has an estimated retail value of €101,300, which represents a loss to the exchequer of over €47,400.

The consignment was seized after the routine profiling aimed at identifying alcohol products that may be diverted onto the market without payment of the tax and duties due on it.

Revenue and Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
