The INMO Calls For Immediate Action to Address Trolley Numbers

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Association (INMO) have called for immediate action to address the high numbers of patients waiting on trolleys in hospitals around the country.

The INMO Trolley Watch figures reveal that 603 people are without a bed in Irish hospitals today, the highest figure since February 4th 2020.

University Hospital Limerick – which serves North Tipperary – reported 71 people awaiting admission. 30 of these were on trolleys while 41 were accommodated elsewhere in the hospital.

Cork reported 58 patients waiting on trolleys while Galway has 46.

Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel reported 16 patients on trolleys this morning.

The INMO are calling for the Emergency Department Taskforce to be convened and for emergency measures to be deployed in the areas most in need.

The union says that if non-emergency services need to be curtailed in order to allow the HSE and hospital groups to get a handle on the situation, then that must be done.
