Vicky Phelan hopes her legacy will encourage women to stand up for themselves particularly when it’s comes to their right to proper healthcare.
The Cervical Check activist received the Honorary Freewoman of Limerick last night.
The award was given to her after she exposed the scandal and for her continued work in raising women’s health issues.
Ms Phelan says it’s nice to see they are giving award people for civic duties and for standing up and speaking on behalf of others who don’t have a voice.”
