TD Calls for Creative Solutions to Tackle Rising Cost of Living

Limerick TD Willie O’Dea has called on the Government to come up with creative solutions to tackle the rising cost of living.

Mr O’Dea has suggested that the Government double the planned energy credit to over €200 instead of the €113 that’s planned.

The Fianna Fáil TD also said that any other schemes such as an increase in social welfare payments would take too long to deliver.

He added that he was completely in favour of any action that the Government would take to stop businesses passing on price increases to their customers.

Elsewhere, Sinn Fein TD Pearse Doherty is calling for targeted measures for social welfare recipients, a rent freeze and that the planned increase in Carbon Tax in May should not go ahead.

The Government are understood to be examining ways to help people keep more of their disposable income by waiving or reducing fees for certain services.
