High Number Of Patients On Trolleys In UHL

Over 100 patients are on trolleys in University Hospital Limerick according to the INMO trolley watch.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is reporting 111 in total with 62 on corridors and 49 are in wards awaiting a bed.

Meanwhile Tipperary University Hospital have a total of 8 people waiting for a bed.

UHL is urging people to use alternative healthcare options as the Emergency Department at the hospital is busy.

The hospital is prioritising the sickest patients and those with less urgent complaints can expect a longer wait at ED.

In the last 24 hours 251 people have turned up to the emergency department.

There’s currently there’s 61 patients in UHL with COVID-19 with 5 receiving critical care.

The UL Hospitals group says they continue to deal with a COVID outbreak at the hospital also.

Hospital Management apologies to those patients who are waiting for a bed as a result of high demand on their service.
