Heritage Minister Concerned About Marine Impact From Russia’s Missile Exercise


The Minister for Heritage is concerned about Russian’s plan to conduct a military exercise near Ireland’s coast could impact marine wildlife.

The Putin led country is to carry out exercises in the deep seas within Ireland’s Exclusive Economic Area next month. 

Malcolm Noonan says that he has written to Minister Simon Coveney and Russian Ambassador.

The Irish South and West Fish Producers Organisation is planning to peacefully disrupt Russia’s plans and are calling for the government to act to protect the fishing area

Meanwhile the Ukrainian ambassador to Ireland is urging Europe Union to immediately impose sanctions on Russia and not to wait for an invasion.
