Reductions in scheduled care across UL Hospitals Group have been extended for a further week.
The Hospital Crisis Management team met yesterday to confirmed the deferral of the majority of scheduled surgery and outpatient appointments until Friday (14th January)
The decision was made as staff absenses continue to rise as a result of the current surge of COVID-19.
Yesterday a total 675 staff or 13 percent of their workforce were unavailable to work for reasons relating to COVID19.
The affected hospitals include UHL, Ennis, Nenagh, St Johns and Croom Orthopaedic Hospital.
All impacted patients will be contacted directly by the hospital.
Services at University Maternity Hospital in Limerick are unaffected and emergency and trauma threatres will continue aswell as time critical outpatient appointments.
