Over 26,000 New COVID Cases Reported Today

Unprecedented levels of infection in the community across Limerick, Clare, and North Tipperary

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been notified of 26,122 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

As of 8am today, 917 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised of which 83 are in ICU.

Given the current high incidence, the daily case number is based on positive SARS-CoV-2 results uploaded to the HSE COVID Care Tracker the preceding day. These data are provisional.

It follows calls from the Public Health Mid-West for people to immediately self-isolate if they have any symptoms of COVID-19.

Public Health Officials in the area says they’re seeing unprecedented levels of infection in the community across Limerick, Clare, and North Tipperary.
