The Glen Hotel, Aherlow is to be sold via online auction on 27th August.

The Glen Hotel in the heart of the Glen of Aherlow has been sold.

The hotel was sold via an online auction conducted by Liam O’Grady Auctioneers  on Friday last. There were 105 bids with a final sale price of 224K.

The Hotel has been vacant for a number of years and has fallen into disrepair as a result. It had 22 ensuite bedrooms, a 75 seater restaurant, a 70 seat public bar, and 2 extensive ball/function rooms with 290 seat capacity.   The car park can hold up to 160 cars. The location promises huge potential for any commercial enterprise, benefiting from a wealth of local attractions – it is located approximately  9km from Tipperary Town.

It is understood that The buyer plans to develop the site into a tourism/recreation business which will create employment, tourism accommodation and enhance the overall visitor experience to the beautiful Glen Of Aherlow.   The hotel is the hub for a waste water treatment management for the adjacent Aherlow woods houses and this has caused some concerns as it has not been maintained.

Cllr Anne Marie Ryan has welcomed the sale saying it is good  news for the Glen of Aherlow, the local residents of Aherlow Woods, Tipperary Town and hinterlands.
