1480

Works to install a pedestrian bridge over the River Ara in Tipperary Town are almost complete following the installation of the bridge infrastructure earlier today.

Traffic on the Link Road will Tipperary town will not face any further disruption today.

The new bridge was constructed in 3 segments and installed today by V Plant Company from Cahir. The top pathway segment and railings have yet to be installed. The footpath and wall at the Link road side will then be reinstated. The bridge is capable of vehicular traffic but will only operate for pedestrians and cyclists.

The project is part of an overall upgrade of the Riverside area with plans for a Boardwalk over a wetland area, nature study points, a children’s play area and a 850 metre walkway that will link in with other walking routes in the town.
