Tipperary Town Market Yard Upgrade To Commence This Month

Tipperary town will see some major traffic diversion from June 28th, according to Tipperary County Council.

The Council have advertised a proposed temporary road closure of the road way known as “Market Place” from 10am on June 28th to 5pm on 10th of September 2021.

The closure is to enable construction works consisting of the following, upgrading of the traffic system, upgrading of pavements including new kerbing and paving, resurfacing of road sections, upgrading of the lighting system, installation of a new pedestrian crossing on Mitchell Street, linking the Excel Heritage Centre with the Market Yard and Town Centre and installation of street furniture and planting and the installation of bespoke canopy structure for casual trading.

Tipperary MD recently signed a contract valued at €494,290 with Tony Kirwan Civil Engineering Contractors of Kilmacthomas, Co. Waterford in respect of these works.

The council advise that objections to the proposed temporary closure may be submitted in writing to Road Closures, Roads & Transportation, Tipperary County Council, Civic Offices, Limerick Road, Nenagh no later than 12 noon on Thursday 13 June 2021 or by e-mail to [email protected]
