Actions to resolve a long-standing boil water notice in the Kilfeacle/Thomastown area of Co. Tipperary took a small step forward yesterday.

Irish Water confirmed that the replacement of 4km of water main along the N&$ between Kilfeacle and Thomastown have been approved for capital works. However, it is envisaged that just 1km of cast iron mains will be replaced this year, and no start date have been indicated as of yet. The further 3 km will be replaced in phases over a longer period.

Cllr Declan Burgess states that he was informed that the funding for Stage 1 has been secured and they will start at the Thomastown Cross side, working towards Kilfeacle.
