The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, is to  announce that County Tipperary is to receive an allocation of 2.98 million Euros via the Leader Programme.

The Government had announced the creation of a 70 million Euro funding for a Transitional Leader Programme for the two years 2020 – 2022.  The EU has yet to agree funding for a more long term programme.

The Leader funding in County Tipperary is distributed by two companies trading as North Tipperary Development Company and South Tipp Development Company.

Since April 1st the Leader companies have been accepting applications for projects from Community Groups and Private Promoters. The funding has been welcomed by Senator Garret Ahearn who encouraged entrepreneurs or community groups to engage with their local Leader office.
