NPHET To Make Recommendations Regarding Possible Level 5 Easing Today

The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) will meet today to make recommendations to the Cabinet COVID Sub-Committee who will then bring those recommendations to Cabinet tomorrow, about possible changes to the current Level 5 restrictions.

The focus of the recommendations is likely to be what can safely be done outdoors. Public Health Officials do not want people to visit each other’s houses, and they do not want people travelling to other counties, where there is a risk of moving infection from counties with high COVID incidence, to areas of low incidence.

Speaking yesterday, Minister Simon Coveney said that by mid-July, it was intended that the vast majority of people would have received their vaccinations. He said the Government would take a very cautious approach to avoid a 4th wave of infection.
